Day 53

Day 53.

This is the day I am on in my read through the Bible plan. Sounds strange. I have asked myself, “I am not too far in to this thing, why not start over and start it on January 1 like everyone else?” I sure could, and would probably benefit from reading these portions again. It would also put off reading through Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy for a time!

But I won’t.

When I started this plan 53 days ago, I set out to accomplish something. Not something I haven’t done before or will never do again, but nonetheless I was going to see it through. I made up my mind that this particular day would be January 1 for me. I determined in my heart to begin and finish what I set out to do.

We so often get caught up with starting or ending things on particular days. “I will start over on Monday.” “This year will be a new year.” And it’s true. Do it. Start or end something that has been on your heart for awhile and you haven’t had the courage, strength or reason to until now.

For me, on that particular day 53 days ago, I decided that every day could be Monday (that may sound awful to many of you that hate Monday’s, and for that I’m sorry!). Every day could be January 1. I don’t have to wait. I can end the habit today or start a new one. I am in control of my future not the calendar.

If we were to take hold of this thought, imagine the impact it could have on each person individually, but also on a collective group as well. So please, begin what you have dreamed up. Fight to break the habit that has controlled you until now. Start that resolution with determination and grit. Not because it is January 1. Start it because it’s today, and you are in control of it.

For you it may be day 1 while I’m on day 53. I hope others of you are on day 100 or 250. Whatever the case, do what you know is necessary to live your best life. To be the best version of who you can be. Who God has called you to be. And do it all for His glory.
